What is Robotics and Why it is considered as 21st Century’s essential skills?

Robotics is the art of making machines that mimics human actions/behavior by incorporating the principles of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Robots have been programmed to perform different tasks. Some robots can automatically do tasks without any human interference, while for some other robots, a person should tell them what to do.

Robotics involves the designing, construction, operation and usage of robots.

Robots can be used in various situations and for different purposes. Currently, they are being used in places where humans can not work, or in dangerous environments like nuclear material inspection, bomb detection and deactivation, or in manufacturing processes where humans face a threat. We can also employ robots in locations where humans cannot survive for example, in space, under water, in high heat, etc. Robots can also be used for the cleaning up and containment of hazardous materials and radiation.

Researchers and educators have shown that digital technology profoundly influences and alters the personalities and identities of students and increases their intellectual capacities.
Technology also fosters teamwork and collaboration among students.
As a new technology, Robotics has drawn the interest of educators and is now being used as an educational tool. Concepts that deal with force such as lift, thrust and drag, create imaginative ideas among students.

Therefore, Robotics can be considered useful tools/skills for preparing students for the 21st century, since they stimulates the imagination of the students.
